Meeting Minutes, October 25, 2010

Committee Members Present:  Halpin, Rusak, Barlow, Accardi, Sullivan, Thompson, Wangsness, Hayward, Terlizzi; McWilliams, Bravo, Council Liasions

Approval of Minutes:  Pat made a motion to accept the minutes from the October 4, 2010 meeting/ seconded by Maria/ all in favor, motion passed.

PR:  There was a nice article in the Neighbor News on 10/13/10.  Both The Citizen and Neighbor News are willing to include special articles during the centennial.

The plan is for The Citizen to feature a series on “Then & Now” with a focus on some of the less visible organizations in town (i.e. Fire Dept, MacDowell Club). The Neighbor News could feature “Lifestyles”, with a look at teens, children, fashion over the years.

A suggestion was made to contact Ellen Emr who is compiling information on the women of Mountain Lakes.

The following ideas were generated from our discussion on how to reach out to more people in town, specifically, those without e-mail capability:

  • Request that the churches include centennial news in their bulletins
  • Mail a “Save the Date” postcard listing all of our events
  • Develop a flyer to include with the Borough water bill- need to check with Barry Lewis

ML Production:  The production team met and is making great progress. New members include Tom Miller, Mike Brant and Ranjan Bose.

Banners Update:  Still waiting for JCP&L approval.  The brackets & banners will be ordered through the Borough.

Neighborhoods:  Debbie is only missing mascots and names for five neighborhoods.  She plans to schedule another meeting for all neighborhood reps in November. It will be held downstairs in the library. Pat and Chris have offered to assist.

Borough Cove Project:  We will not be sending a rep from our committee.  Instead, Blair will report directly back to us on progress.  Our request to the committee is to locate a plaque with the cornerstone greeting at the Cove.

Fundraising & Merchandising:  The limited edition print will be offered in the dark frame with the beige mat.

There was lots of interest in our merchandise at the Homecoming game.  To date, we have raised a total of $9365 which covers Carissa’s initial investment of about $7000.

Holiday Boutique:  Friday, November 19th  10-4pm

The Centennial Committee will be sharing a table with the Town Club.  Our fee has been waived.  Pat will bring a screen to display the t-shirts.  Carissa will provide a photo and bio of Laura Wilder for the display.

Art Show:  We do not have a chair for a community & school art show during the ML production.  The committee brainstormed some suggestions and will make inquiries.

Memorial Day Parade:  A group is working on “100 years of scouting”.  They are trying to collect old uniforms.  Debbie will contact Scott Kimmelman to see how he is progressing with “100 years of automobiles”.
