About the Centennial Logo

By ml100, June 18, 2010 10:22 pm

The logo was commissioned by the Centennial Committee to capture the spirit of the celebration and create a recognizable visual identity for the event. It was inspired by the original historical photo of two women in a canoe paddling on the Main Lake on a lazy summer afternoon.  The photo was taken in 1924.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Laura Wilder, an artist well know in the Arts& Crafts community, was chosen for the logo project after soliciting proposals from local and nationally known artists.  A Roycroft Renaissance Master Artisan, Laura has completed commissions for numerous public and private projects.  Her arts & crafts printmaking style was a unique fit for our logo. Learn more about the artist at her web site, www.laurawilder.com

The logo artwork, rendered in both simple logo form and a more detailed print version, magically captures Mountain Lakes—our arts & crafts heritage, our connection to the landscape and our strong sense of community. We are indebted to Laura for her passionate execution of the project, and her ability to so precisely translate the spirit of our mission. Our hope is that the image becomes a lasting icon for our community.

The logo may be used by community organizations only with the express permission of the Centennial Committee. For more information on how your organization can use the logo for fundraising, please contact Carisa Wangsness at 973-452-0588  or ml100@mtnlakes.org

Would it be possible to have the ML100 logo as a poster?

    Hello Carisa,
I grew up in Mountain lakes from 1983-1992. I currently live in Asheville, NC. I am interested in obtaining a centennial logo poster. Can you please advise as to how to do that? Will you be selling t-shirts or posters?
    Thank you for your time.
    Dave
