Neighborhood 7 – The Cove
Congrats to the Cove for our first Neighborhood Challenge win. Ellie and Charlie Halpin came in first place in the annual 4th of July canoe race from the Mountain Lakes Club to Island Beach.
The Cove had a great showing at the MLSA Centennial Sailing Celebration on Saturday, July 2, 2011. Our neighborhood had the most participants, though no gold medals. Fun for all!
The Cove neighborhood centennial party will be on Labor Day weekend. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 3rd from 3-7pm, with a rain date for Sunday, September 4th. If you would like to help plan the party, please contact Laure Lee Carrico, llcar@optonline.net.
The Elegant Swan Cove Considers Asking Squirrel Hooligan to Jubilee
Once news of the Hapgood Hooligantown’s new mascot got out, offers to take her to the dance have come in fast. The first offer came from Neighborhood #7, The Cove, “Perhaps if Ms. Squirrel isn’t too much of a “hooligan”…she might just get an invitation from the elegant Cove Swan…” The Prestigious Hill Section quickly followed with a photo of their dapper Red Tail Hawk, Preston, and heading “Jaunty Raptor seeks fun-loving Rodent Mascot for Dancing and then, Dining (on), at the Jubilee!”
In response, the Hapgood Hooligantown spokesman said, “Wow, that tricky hawk does look dapper in a top hat. However, Miss Squirrel swooned when she saw the swan. Perhaps we will start a new ‘Dating Game’ with “Bachelor #1″ and “Bachelor #2.” For now, Miss Squirrel wants to keep her options open.” The Cove complied but pointed out, “The swan is happy to have his photo shared but a bit indignant as there hardly appears to be a contest here…”
