With regard to the history of Lake Arrowhead, I've always heard that the original builders of Lake Arrowhead were sued by the high desert cities because Lake Arrowhead was diverting the natural runoff water to the high desert. Does anyone know if that's true?

1.	I MOVED TO 105 KENILWORTH RD IN OCT. OF 1935. WILDWOOD LAKE HAD A SWIMMING BEACH CALLED LEONARDS BEACH WITH A HIGH DIVING BOARD AND 3 LOWER DIVING BOARDS. I SPENT MUCH OF MY TIME FISHING FROM THE DAM. WHEN DINNER WAS READY, MY MOTHER WOULD PEEP THE CAR HORN 3 TIMES. IN THE SUMMER WE WOULD COME TO CURTIS FRANKLIN’S HOUSE NEXT TO THE BROOK. WE WOULD PLAY BALL WITH WHAT EVER WAS AVAILABLE. IF WE HAD 4 PLAYERS OR 15 IT DIDN’T MATTER. EVERY NIGHT WAS BASEBALL. AT DARK WE WOULD PLAY HIDE N SEEK, KICK THE CAN OR WHATEVER. THEN WE WOULD IN BACK OF CURTIS’S HOUSE TO HIS CABIN AND LISTEN TO BASEBALL GAMES. WE KNEW ALL THE STATISTICS OF THE DODGERS, GIANTS. AND YANKEES. ON RAINY DAYS WE WOULD PLAY MARBLES IN CURTIS’ GARAGE. OR PLAY WAR IN THE WOODS BETWEEN MELROSE AND KENILWORTH RD. WE WOULD WARE SKI GOGGLES AND SHOOT BB GUNS. (HOW ABOUT THAT CURTIS AND BILL “BOOPSIE” SHECKEL WE OUR ADULT MENTORS, ABOUT 5 YEARS OLDER. IT WAS A SAD DAY WHEN CURTIS’ FATHER MOVED TO THE BIG LAKE ACROSS FROM OVERLOOK RD AND THE BLVD.

I lived at 365 Morris Ave. from 1968-1970, and on Howell Rd. from 1970-1972, when I graduated from MLHS. My Dad died when I lived at the Morris Ave. house, so my Mom & I moved to the smaller house on Howell Rd. until I finished HS. I would LOVE to see the houses on the house tour, and hope you will have a way to buy tickets by mail, since I live in Princeton now. I look forward to revisiting the past.

The village should be given "points" by our volunteering 4 hours of our time to give out candy to 900 kids. We do this every year but this year it should count for something. Someone every year counts the children with a "counter" and has a graph of past years. It should not be the amounts of kids from other neigborhoods, it should be the fact that the village volunteers 4 hours of our time!

Nancy and Glennis Rickert - Hillcrest - at least 50 years. Brad Rickert, now on Dartmouth - 40+ years. Also Pete and Rosemary Haas (although their house is technically in Denville on Pocono Road) are among the longest residents.
